Katrina Kaif poses in a Gucci dress for L’Officiel

The babe looks like a million bucks in the 11th Anniversary Special of the fashion glossy, L’Officiel

We have always condemned Katrina Kaif for her boring style choices. But the babe has been springing some really cool surprises of late. Remember the funky checkered style she sported in Harper’s Bazaar last issue. And now looks like she is all set to create ripples in the style world – Kat’s appeared on the cover of L’Officiel in a black Gucci dress. We love the side ruffles and the backless pattern of the outfit, and what really caught our attention were those lovely dangling gold earrings. They complement the classy style of the dress perfectly.

The red nail paint, the nude lipstick and the free-flowing hair – Kat is looking like an absolute diva, as if she’s conveying in her own way to the paparazzi – ‘bring it on people, I am ready to strike some awesome poses.’

Ayan Mukerji: Ranbir Kapoor has sobered down!

The director is all set with his second film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and spills the beans about casting Ranbir and the actor’s former ladylove Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, and much more….

The 29-year-old director gesticulates passionately while talking. He loves to lay that extra emphasis on his words by moving his hands in an animated manner. There’s something very interesting about Ayan Mukherji’s body language. Munching on a huge heap of chips in front of him as he speaks, the timbre of this young filmmaker’s voice oscillates between a contemplative tone and a fun baritone. Addressing everyone politely as ‘ma’am’ and ‘sir’, Ayan puts across his point in an amazingly intelligent manner – he almost wins your heart. He doesn’t sound arrogant at all when he says, “I am going to sound arrogant when I say that Ranbir and Deepika are in the pink these days and people who think that female actors usually don’t match up to Ranbir’s performance are going to be proved wrong after watching my film.” Amidst all the hoo-ha about YJHD, he doesn’t forget to shower the producer of the film Karan Johar with unqualified praise. “Karan is the most generous producer. He is one of those who doesn’t mind earning Rs 2 crore less if that helps in improving his film,” he says.

Mukerji in a no-holds-barred conversation with Bollywoodlife…

It took you four years to direct your second film…

I needed the time to make this film and to make it correctly. At many levels I needed to understand what I wanted my film to be all about. Writing it correctly and then mounting it correctly – creativity doesn’t cater to timelines. This is the time the project needed to come together. And that’s absolutely okay, ‘coz I don’t have that mindset wherein I feel I that I should make one film in one year. Maybe the next film will come after five or six years.

You have written the story, right?

The germ of this story was in my mind even before Wake up Sid. In many ways filmmakers carry their story along with them. Also I think I couldn’t express myself completely and fully in Wake up Sid, as I was still finding my feet. In YJHD I was able to express myself with much more openness, nakedness and more deeply. The film is about many different facets of life I was trying to understand. It’s about friendship, love, marriage et al.

So was there a specific moment when you thought you should make this film?

The specific moment when I first knew I had to make this film was six months after I made Wake up Sid. We were all dancing at the sangeet ceremony of a close friend’s wedding. It was 4 in the morning and we were drunk and dancing to a Govinda-Karisma Kapoor song; it was an absolutely filmi moment. It is an out-and-out masaledar number, but the kind of emotion it created – a deep kind of joy and connect had formed between me and my friends. And somewhere I felt that this feeling should be captured in a film.

You cast Ranbir and Deepika in the film – why? You never thought of it as a risk at all?

I cast them ‘coz they were right for the part. Me and Ranbir have developed a very deep friendship over the two films that we worked on. So I suppose in a subconscious way I am writing for him and I am grateful that he’s agreeing to be a part of my films. A lot has been said about Ranbir and Deepika being ex-lovers, but honestly we were just trying to find someone who looked right with Ranbir. It took us time to realise that Deepika was perfect for the role. In some way, we represent the newer generation in Bollywood. But work wise, what I love about our generation is that the two dating at one point was really not a big deal. Despite the whole Koffee with Karan drama, today we make jokes about the fact that they were in a relationship. It’s all cool and comfortable between us.

Ranbir and you are such thick friends; does it ever get difficult to work with buddies ‘coz, no matter what, the director has to be a taskmaster at the end of the day…

Honestly, the truth is that it’s only a privilege. Me and Ranbir had more fun while making our first film. With the second film, we got into our roles very silently. I guess life has its own way of setting up relationships.

What are the changes you have observed in Ranbir over the years?

Ranbir is grown up. He’s in a different kind of a space. He is quite different now that he is 30 than he was when he was 25. He’s more comfortable in his career and knows himself as a person. The level of maturity that he has gained as a human being has specially helped us in forming this film. In a film like Barfi!, it may seem like it came easily to Ranbir ‘coz the personality of the character is somewhat similar to his, but it’s actually very difficult, as you have to bring a lot of your own life and personality to the fore for interpreting a part like that. Ranbir’s understanding of human emotions has become deeper. The manner in which he approaches a role has become deeper. In Wake up… he was genuinely very childish. Now he has sobered down in a nice way, in a way that would define the flavour of Yeh Jawaani…

Why did you choose a classic number as the title of your film?

It was such a famous song. It’s one of those phrases that’s stuck in the minds of people. Honestly, we are just banking on the magic of this song. It was my idea; I and Karan were discussing and I suggested it to him. In an odd way, in the actual song, it’s a guy singing it to a woman. And while we have taken the catchphrase, our intention is to encapsulate different shades of just being young, the madness of youth.

You went to Argentina to make an international film, we hear…

I went to Argentina just to holiday. I went there to be all by myself for a month. I went there because our Hindi film industry may be an amazing place to work in, but you realise that you only end up hanging out with a set number of people. I want to keep reminding myself to continue tapping into the world outside of Hindi films so that in some way I don’t stagnate as a filmmaker too early in my career.

Why a slice of life or coming of age film the second time over?
When you see the whole film, you will realise that there’s obviously a heavy shade of a typical Dharma film. But more than anything else, when I set off to write a film, I don’t think I analyse it intellectually. To me that intellectual thought doesn’t arrive that if I have done this in my first film, let me not repeat it in my second. For me it has to be an emotional and not an intellectual instinct. There was a burning desire to say and do a lot in this space. To me Ranbir in Wake up Sid and Ranbir in Yeh Jawaani represent very different kinds of youngsters. In Wake up Ranbir played a boy who was still trapped in adolescence, while in Yeh Jawaani he plays a boy who can’t wait to embark on his adult journey. In fact, he seems to know exactly what he wants from life. Wake up was about a lukkha, whereas Yeh Jawaani is about a guy who’s raring to go.

What was the vibe while shooting for Balam pichkari – that song is a rage already!

It was a hard film to make, but Balam pichkari was the only exception. Normally we take five or six days to shoot a song, but since Deepika had to complete a schedule of Chennai Express, we had to finish the song in three days. We didn’t know how we were going to do it. We were totally unprepared. But there was something about the song; it was really like a party. It had an energy that made people work longer and no one wanted to go home!

What are your views on remakes and sequels that are so popular these days?
Look at the Batman remakes – it’s all being made more contemporary. The new generation that didn’t watch the film in the ’60s…. remakes gave them a chance to see Batman in a new light. I am totally supportive of remakes!

Aamir Khan and Karan Johar to team up for a film?

If the hot goss is to be believed, the perfectionist actor and the candy floss director might soon collaborate for a film. Is Shahrukh Khan listening?
Karan Johar surely knows how to win people’s hearts, especially his male friends… Only recently, the filmmaker kissed and made up (not literally, you sillies!) with his longtime buddy Shahrukh Khan and silenced all those who raised questions about their friendship. And now we hear that he’s growing quite close to SRK’s arch-rival, Aamir Khan.

Our Bandra-based khabroo serves us some garma garam khabar hinting that the growing camaraderie between KJo and AK is the most talked about thing in B-town and their frequent meetings hint that the new friends are likely to do a film together. The Student Of The Year director is contemplating starting a fresh season of his popular chat show Koffee With Karan, and wethinks there is also a possibility of Khan being a guest celebrity on the show.

If industry experts are to be believed, the Dhoom:3 villain and the director-producer-host-stylist will team up for a film which is likely to go on floors as soon as Aamir gets free from his pending movie commitments. Now, this is one helluva combo, right peeps?

What does Alia Bhatt feel about Gippi?

Now, this lady who debuted with Student Of The Year is cute. And she is talking sweetly about another adorable character…
Pretty girls are, more often than not, chubby during their childhood days. So was Alia Bhatt and so was Gippi. And that’s why Karan Johar has roped in this 20-year-old actor to drop some hints about the character of his upcoming movie.

So what does Alia say? Apparently, looking at Gippi dressed in a school dress reminds Alia of her school days. Of course, Alia – who’s now a lipstick applying, (almost) size zero girl – has lost all her baby fat. But Gippi? Guess she wasn’t that lucky. Tch, tch. So sad, no?

Anyway. Take a look at this cute promo and tell us: What do you think about Gippi? Do you think Gippi is a happy girl? Or do you think she is unhappy?

Alia Bhatt: I don’t think I would opt for a glamorous Indian wedding!

The Student of The Year babe loves big fat Indian weddings but says she would like to keep hers a low-profile one

” I’d keep it a low-key wedding and wouldn’t go ballistic about it. As much as I enjoy the entire idea of the glamorous Indian wedding, I don’t think I’d opt for one. I’d like a quiet celebration, preferably out of town.”

- Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt: Guys like girls who they can have a conversation with

The Student Of The Year babe talks about the importance of makeup and what guys look for in girls
“You can’t wear make-up all the time and as cliche as it sounds, I like to keep it simple. Makeup does not change your looks, it enhances the features and adds to your existing beauty. Personally, I love red lipstick and kajal as it makes your eyes look beautiful. It’s also important to smell nice all the time so perfume is integral to me. Guys don’t like girls who are too made up. They like girls who are normal and who they can have a conversation with.”

Varun Dhawan: I should now find myself a wife!

When the Student Of The Year dude was asked if he prefers a sexy car or a sexy girlfriend, this is what he had to say

” Definitely a sexy girlfriend. In fact I think should now graduate to finding myself a wife. There is a famous line that we live once and we die once, but I believe we can live many lives but die only once – and that is by getting married.”

- Varun Dhawan

Qubool Hai: Why won’t Asad say he loves Zoya?

Being non-expressive is a disability that most men possess, just like our brawny hero

Qubool Hai’s Asad Ahmed Khan (Karan Singh Grover) has issues we can’t comprehend and don’t want to. He loves-hates-loves Zoya Farooqui (Surbhi Jyoti), but expressing his feelings out loud is a strict no-no in his book of conduct. So how can anyone really know what’s cooking in his head or his heart?

In a previous episode, he got engaged to Zoya in desperation, to keep her from being deported. Now Zoya believed that this was Mr Khan’s declaration of love, but little did she know that Asad was still in denial. She confronts and accuses him of playing with her heart, but Asad dismisses her allegations, as he is still trying to figure out what his heart and mind really want.

Finally, at another wedding and under extreme circumstances, Asad’s mother Dilshaad declares that she will get her son married within the next ten days – no pressure there. She questions her son about his feelings for Zoya, but Asad is tongue tied (wow, that’s a first!) and leaves without answering.

He paces up and down in his room trying to figure out why he can’t marry Zoya, why she doesn’t deserve him and why he can’t live without her. Too many questions and Asad still doesn’t have any answers. He fears that he will be like his father, who abandoned his first wife to be with another woman – if you ask us, we know he is nothing like Rashid. Asad is strong, intelligent, self-made and a morally upright man, unlike his dad.

So will he realise this within the next ten days, or will Asad ignore his mother’s public announcement and hope that people forget it too? What do you think, BollywoodLifers?

Sweetheart No 1 of Indian Tellyland – Drashti Dhami, Sanaya Irani, Sukirti Kandpal or Surbhi Jyoti…?

Bahus or betis – they are icons and role models for fans across the globe. While some identity with their characters – God alone knows how or even why – for some, she is an inspiration. The ladies of Indian television create waves…so which is your sweetheart?

Be it Drashti Dhami’s undying, all-giving love as Madhubala Kundra, or Sanaya Irani’s practical and 21st century nature as Chhanchhan. Or perhaps Sukirti Kandpal’s remixed outlook of life as Simran or maybe Chandni Bhagwanani’s understanding and compromising nature trying to make her marriage work as Amita. Even Surbhi Jyoti’s naughty and helpful nature as Zoya Farooqui…the viewers love it all. These actors depict the modern women of today – at least, some of them do – and that’s why we like them so much. So if you are hooked to your idiot box because of any of these stars, simply vote and tell us who your favourite sweetheart on Indian daily soaps is…

Kumud, Chhanchhan or Amita: Who is the best new female power on TV?

Television has always had powerful women – some even stronger than the men. And the trend continues with Saraswatichandra’s Kumud, Simran of Kaisa Ye Ishq Hai… Ajab Sa Risk Hai…
We saw several new shows begin this year – some reigned with good TRPs while others were pulled off air even before they could find a foothold. While the stories may be run-of-the-mill, it’s the characters that have impressed us. Personalities like Jodha of Jodha Akbar, Chhanchhan from Sony TV’s Chhanchhan, Amita from Amita Ka Amit and Shraddha from Meri Bhabhi have done a marvellous job and left their mark on the minds of the people. And of course, the credit goes to actors like Paridhi Sharma, Sanaya Irani, Chandni Bhagwanani and Kanchi Kaul who portray these characters. Kudos ladies!

Krrish 3 first look: Hrithik Roshan unveils motion poster!

The much-awaited first look of the superhero movie was unveiled online

Hrithik Roshan unveiled the first look of one of the most awaited flicks of the year, Krrish 3, in a live digital interaction with his fans. The motion poster does not reveal much, but does set the tone for things to come, especially through the background score. What we could make out was that the poster juxtaposes the face of evil and the face of goodness – played by Vivek Oberoi and Hrithik respectively.

Obviously, a huge and elaborate promotional campaign has been planned around this expensive superhero flick, which is slated to have some of the best special effects ever seen on the Indian screen so far.

The theatrical trailer will be launched with the Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express on August 8. While Vivek Oberoi will be seen playing the baddie, Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut will also be seen in key roles in this third installment of the superhero series.

Shahrukh Khan back as host with IIFA Awards 2013!

The B-town Baadshah will be accompanied by Shahid Kapoor as anchor of the ceremony in Macau

Shahrukh Khan is back to doing what he does best! Acting? Nah. Something he is an ace at more than his day job – hosting award shows. This year, the Chennai Express star will anchor the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held at The Venetian Macao in Macau. He will be joined by Shahid Kapoor, who was emcee at last year’s IIFA awards along with Farhan Akhtar.

While we’ve loved the SRK-Saif Ali Khan jodi with their awesome chemistry on stage at the Filmfare Awards year after year, we’ve also appreciated SRK at other award shows. With Shahid, the actor earlier hosted the Screen Awards. SRK anchored the IIFA ceremony in Amsterdam way back in 2005.

The IIFA is back in the news this time after a lull last year. On stage, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Deepika Padukone, Sridevi and Prabu Deva will perform along with Abhishek Bachchan. Watch this space for more updates!

Are marriage plans affecting Shweta Tiwari’s performances in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6?

The popular saas-bahu actor is struggling with her dance and has been receiving a lot of flak of late. We wonder if this is a well thought out strategy!

Shweta Tiwari, who separated from husband Raja Chaudhary a few years ago, is all set to tie the knot once again, but will it be at the cost of her career?

The Bhojpuri actor and small screen star, who is also a contestant on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6, is super kicked about her wedding with beau Abhinav Kohli next month. But if the actor is busy spending all her time on the rehearsals for JDJ and shooting for Parvarrish – her daily soap on Sony, where’s the time to get ready for the grand wedding?

Of course, marriage takes precedence over a reality show and maybe that’s why Shweta has not been giving her heart and soul to the performances. ‘Coz every week we have been hearing judges Karan Johar, Madhuri Dixit and Remo D’Souza telling her that she’s not performing up to her potential. While we initially sympathised with her thinking maybe the judges are expecting a bit too much, ever since the news about Shweta’s marriage plans have come out, we wonder if it’s on purpose that she’s not giving her 100 percent on the stage of this dance reality show.

Does Shweta want to get eliminated soon so that she can spend time preparing for the D-day? While we really don’t want to believe that, our reasoning mind is just pointing in that direction. What do you think BollywoodLifers?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan voted sexiest Holi babe!

The elegant Bachchan bahu has been voted as the hottest and the sexiest beauty in an exclusive poll conducted by BollywoodLife
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to rule our colourful fantasies, or at least that’s what our poll seems to suggest. We asked our readers who in their opinion was the hottest Holi babe – the choices ranged from Rekha to Madhuri Dixit-Nene and from Hema Malini to Deepika Padukone.

The yesteryear glam diva Rekha might have acquired the cult status of being the ultimate Holi star, thanks to the iconic song, Rang barse bheege chunarwali from Silsila. But the most beautiful Indian woman on the planet, Ash has won many a heart and maximum number of coveted votes with her undeniable charm this time. Ash had appeared in Holi songs in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein and then she repeated the multi-coloured feat in the Akshay Kumar starrer Action Replayy. Fans seem to have been so mesmerised by the Miss World-turned-Bollywood sensation that they made the green eyed beauty the hottest Holi star ever.

Ash bagged 27.05 percent of the votes. The Dhak dhak star Madhuri Dixit-Nene too came close with 23 percent votes. Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone netted 17.41 percent and 14.08 percent receptively. Clearly, no one could come close to the gorgeous Bachchan Bahu except our darling Mads. But in the end, Ash ruled the poll and won the contest hands down!  Tell us what in your opinion makes Mrs Bachchan the lava-hot star that she is!

Ahana Deol and Vaibhav Vora’s engagement: View pics!

It was quite a lavish affair, and we hear the couple is all set to tie the knot in November
Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s younger daughter Ahana Deol got engaged to Vaibhav Vora and she looked pretty in a gold mermaid cut lehenga. She kept it simple with nude make-up and plain straight hair. We love the way Vaibhav is down on his knees and popping the question to his lady love with a glowing ring in his hand and Dharmendra standing by the side giving an impish grin.

Hema Malini said in a recent interview that now that Ahana will get married in November, she and Dharam ji can breathe a sigh of relief. We also came across this interesting anecdote about how the gal met Vaibhav. It seems she saw Vora at sister Esha Deol’s wedding, and dad Dharam just nudged his pretty li’l daughter to give it a try and get to know him more. And the chemistry was spot on; things fell into place, and within a matter of time the two families met and the marriage was fixed. We wish Ahana and Vaibhav all the best for their future…

Priyanka Chopra voted Sexiest Back of B-town!

In an exclusive poll conducted by BollywoodLife, the Barfi! babe won the maximum votes for having that hottest rear view!

Very few girls drive our loyal BollywoodLifers absolutely crazy the way Priyanka Chopra does. The spunky star not only makes our heads turn every time we see her, but she also wins most of our crazy polls with panache. The case in point is the recent survey we conducted asking our Bolly peeps who has the sexiest back in B-town. Ranging from Anushka Sharma to Deepika Padukone and from Bipasha Basu to Sunny Leone, we presented some of the sexiest, starry shining backs of our starlet.

And Barfi! star Priyanka Chopra dominated the poll, winning 26.05 percent votes, beating Kareena Kapoor who bagged 24.76 percent votes. It was indeed a close contest between the two sexy arch-rivals of the industry. The lava-hot Katrina Kaif stood third in the list with 22 percent votes and Deepika featured fourth in the coveted club of sexy backs with 14.69 percent votes. Its ironic how Sunny Leone who is the master of exposing (not just her back!) won just 2 percent votes. The others – Chitrangda Singh, Bips, Anushka Sharma, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan – simply failed to get a solid backing from the voters.

Priyanka Chopra or Vidya Balan: Who is the best female actor of this generation?

Vote for your favourite actor in B-town
Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Sharma have all made a mark in the industry. While Bebo has been around the longest, PeeCee – with Aitraaz, Fashion, Saat Khoon Maaf and Barfi!, and Vids – with Paa, Ishqiya, The Dirty Picture and Kahaani – are dubbed as the best actors of today.

Anushka and Deepika, on the other hand, are slowly and steadily making a mark with some promising performances, and Sonakshi is being touted as the next big star of Bollywood. But who do you think is the best female actor of this generation. Cast your vote and tell us.

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif arrive together at Karan Johar’s birthday bash: View pics

The couple stayed by each other’s side all night and danced together, while Deepika chose to maintain safe distance

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have been together constantly for the last few weeks as the promotions of their upcoming Ayan Mukerji flick Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani are in full swing, but they kept good amount of distance at Karan Johar’s 41st birthday bash over the weekend. Instead, it was Ranbir and Katrina Kaif who arrived together, stayed by each other’s side all night and even grooved to dance numbers from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Dips, on the other hand, turned up solo, and did her own thing!

Gauri Khan showed up at the party sans hubby Shahrukh Khan, who got delayed as he was at a Filmfare shoot that went on till the wee hours. Aamir Khan looked super cute – albeit in chappals and shorts!

Others who attended the birthday bash include Kiran Rao, Kajol, Akshay Kumar-Twinkle Khanna, Sohail Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap-Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi, Arjun Rampal, Manish Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra, Sidharth Malhotra, Rohit Dhawan, Imran Khan-Avantika Malik, Malaika Arora Khan and Vivek Oberoi.

Katrina Kaif dines with Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Singh!

The couple, who are said to be in a hush hush relationship, were recently spotted dining at a high end restaurant

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s relationship has got the green signal from the Kapoor kid’s mum Neetu Singh – well, at least that’s what the buzz suggests. While mommy dear was a li’l hesitant about giving her nod to Deepika Padukone, with Kat she doesn’t seem to have the slightest of reluctance.

We thought all this was mere gossip and a piece of hogwash and there’s nothing between them apart from plain dosti. But it all started to smell and sound a li’l fishy when the two secretive birds were spotted enjoying a scrumptious dinner with Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Well, what can we say, we don’t about wedding bells, but we can surely hear the love bells ringing…

Is this the girl Salman Khan plans to marry?

The news about the Dabangg actor dating Dubai-based Iulia Vantur spread like wildfire across B-town two days ago. Latest reports suggest that Sallu has already decided to get married to the Romanian TV actor….Huh?
Ever since a tabloid broke the story of Salman Khan dating firang chick Iulia Vantur, gossip-mongers haven’t stopped speculating and even creating stories, that too with updates! If the report is to be believed, Salman’s marriage with Iulia is scheduled to take place this year….stop giggling, it’s quite possible!

We came across a picture of Sallu’s ladylove sporting the yellow ‘Being Tiger’ T-shirt (it belongs to Khan’s Being Human franchise), which is quite a testament to the…err…bond between Salman and Iulia. Not only this, our Bandra-based khabroo has also spotted the Mental star hanging out with Ms Vantur at a product launch recently and tells us that she has been spending a lot of quality time with the Khan khandaan lately. As per our loyal buddy, the imported kamariya is staying at the Taj Lands End for now and Sallu seems to be making sure he’s there for her whenever she needs anything…at all.

In the recent past, the Mujhse Shadi Karogi actor has been linked with several B-town babes he has worked with and has also reportedly developed a soft corner for them, including firang chics like Zarine Khan, Claudia Ciesla, Marigold actor Ali Larter, the most significant candidate Katrina Kaif, who missed out on the shaadi ka opportunity (that’s what we think, anyway) and the latest, Iulia. It’s quite difficult to believe that Sallu will be marrying a firang; it could be just another round of his dating game, after all! We wonder why the handsome hunk will settle down with someone who doesn’t belong to his motherland or follow his traditions. But Salman ke case mein kuch bhi ho sakta hain, feel people who have known the star for years now.

Whatever the truth actually is, we are happy for our favourite star if he has finally decided to settle down in matrimonial bliss… please don’t disappoint us this time, Sallu miyan!

Salman Khan’s alleged girlfriend Iulia Vantur staying with his parents!

The bhai of Bollywood was recently spotted with the Romanian beauty driving up to his parents’ residence in his new swanky car

Salman Khan’s love life has been nothing short of a filmi story and the actor is back in the news, thanks to his new arm candy, Iulia Vantur. The most eligible bachelor of B-town seems to be taking his relationship with the Romanian beauty quite seriously. Just a few days ago, the duo was seen driving up to Salman’s parents’ residence and we hear the firang is staying with them.

Iulia, who is based out of US, hardly knows anyone in India. And that’s why Salman reportedly insisted that she stay at his place. Now, we all know that Sallu goes out of his way to help his friends and loved ones but this time the Dabangg Khan seems to have gone one step further.

Is this romantic liaison heading somewhere? We hope so, for bhai’s sake!

Is Salman Khan’s Mental jinxed?

Initially, Salman’s health issues and court hearings postponed the shooting schedule which resulted in Sallu missing his Eid release, and now the action men from South have brought the Lavasa shooting schedule to an abrupt halt

Sohail Khan’s much-anticipated film, Mental starring his bade bhaiyya Salman Khan has been in troubled waters ever since its inception. Firstly, Sohail had announced that he’ll start work on Sher Khan which was put on the backburner for reasons best known to him. Secondly, when he announced Mental and was through with the pre-production work and was just about to start filming it, Salman’s medical check-ups to the US and his court hearings in the 2002 hit-and-run case added to Sohail’s woes.

Then we reported that a dispute had broken out between the action artistes from Hyderabad, Chennai and the film’s production team. Reason? The South stunt choreographers alleged discrimination and that the Mumbai action artistes were paid double the amount as compared to them. Uff! They filed a complaint with the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) officials in Mumbai. When their plea was rejected, the artists reportedly stalled the shoot of the action sequences on the sets of Mental.

Two senior officials of FEFSI (Film Employees’ Federation of South India), Shiva and Vijayan, flew down to Mumbai to help resolve the dispute. However, talks between the FEFSI officials and FWICE reached a deadlock. Despite intervention by Salman and Sohail, Shiva and Vijayan returned to Chennai, taking back with them the entire South group of action artistes. The Khans have now been left high and dry, with less fighters to shoot the remaining action sequences.

Well, we hope the issues are cleared and the film hits the screens soon. Right, BollywoodLifers?

Salman Khan goes to court to stop news channel maligning him

The actor is demanding a written apology from a news channel for reporting on the hit-and-run case that is still sub judice
Salman Khan has had so many run-ins with the law and issues with the media that he has now decided to tackle the many-headed beast head on. Recently, after the ABP News channel aired a segment showing how the Mumbai police was not as forthcoming in handling Salman’s hit and run case as it should be, and that the lapses on the part of the men in uniform may have affected the case, Salman decided to approach the court to keep things under wraps.

Troubled by the reports, Salman’s legal team swung into action and approached the High Court, requesting a directive to the channel demanding that such news not be reported. Salman also requested the court to makre sure that the channel either telecasts or submits a written apology to him. The Court agreed and granted interim relief on the injunction; the channel has been told to stop telecasting news about the case case and also submit written apology to the actor. Justice Kathawala, who heard the request said, “I am prima facie satisfied that the Defendants (ABP News) are indulging in broadcasting defamatory allegations against the Plaintiff (Salman Khan) which are likely to prejudice the Plaintiff in defence to the pending proceedings before the Sessions Court.”

Salman, whose case was transferred to the Sessions Court – which may additionally charge Salman with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304-II of the Indian Penal Code – seems to be palpably worried about the telecast of details about the case and obviously doesn’t want any negative news ruining his chances of winning.

Salman Khan creates website to provide ‘accurate’ information on 2002 hit-and-run case

Considering several inaccurate media reports pertaining to Sallu’s brush with the law, the actor has started a website that will provide all the facts related to all the cases he’s involved in
Salman Khan is a worried man. After the Mumbai Sessions Court rejected his plea for retrial and booked him for culpable homicide, the Dabangg actor is in a quandary – not about what awaits him next, but over several media reports which are apparently damaging his image. Sallu and his Khandaan feel that there a lot of incorrect reports being published on the 2002 hit-and-run case.

Putting an end to it, the family and the superstar’s lawyers have decided to create a website – salmankhanfiles.com so that they can share all the facts with the media and his well-wishers and supporters. On the opening page of the website, Salman’s statement reads, “Certain court cases are filed against me. There is widespread media reporting of these cases. The reports are sometimes inaccurate and misleading, and cause damage to my reputation, both personal and professional. I have been advised to put up this website to provide easy accessible information about the ongoing status of these cases.

This website will be updated by my advocates from time to time. It will not contain any information about the merits of the case, nor any comment. I encourage all those interested in knowing about these cases, particularly the media, to verify facts available on this website. I have the greatest respect for the law, the judiciary and the legal process. Nothing on this website is intended to influence anyone, the sole purpose being to present the facts, and status of the cases I am involved in.”

Wethinks it’s a good initiative by Sallu. Now, if you wanna know about the status of bhai’s cases, you know where to log in, right peeps?

Ranbir Kapoor on the sets of Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara: View pics

The actor, who has wowed everyone with his scintillating performances on the big screen in films like Rockstar and Barfi!, is eager to show his acting skills on the small screen as well

Ranbir Kapoor, who was present on the sets of TV show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, to promote his upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, says if he gets some good offer, he would love to work on TV.

“When I will get some good offer, when something (offer) will excite me, definitely I would love to be a part of television,” he said. “Television is one of the biggest platforms today, one of the (most) entertaining platforms. So to be just a part of it would be lovely. But I have not got any offer yet,” he added.

When the actor was asked about signing a film by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, he denied it and said there was no such film. Rumour mills are abuzz with the news that Zoya is making a film on the relationship between a brother and sister, and she is keen to cast real-life cousins Ranbir and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. “I have not been offered any such film (by Zoya Akhtar). The thing is that we all are friends, so even if we are meeting, people think that talks about some film is going on between us,” he clarified.

“Currently I am doing Besharam, then Bombay Velvet and after that I am doing Imtiaz Ali’s next film,” he added.

The special episode of Pyaar Ka Dard Hai… featuring Ranbir will be aired on May 27. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, directed by Ayan Mukerji, will hit the big screen on May 31. The film also features Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bombay Velvet to hit the screens on Christmas 2014

With the filming of Anurag Kashyap’s much awaited Mumbai trilogy beginning in July, the producers are looking at a Christmas release

Anurag Kashyap has been living with Bombay Velvet for several years now. And finally, after years of struggle and tasting success both in India and abroad, Kashyap will get to indulge in his fantasy in the next few months when Bombay Velvet goes on floors this July.

Interestingly, Bombay Velvet is first in a trilogy of movies based on Mumbai and will track the rise of the city as a metropolis, with jazz music being the backdrop. “Bombay Velvet is my first film in a trilogy about Bombay, before it became a Metropolis. It’s a story that has always fascinated me and we have been developing it for about four years, and I am very excited that now its fully ready and we begin shoot this year,” said Anurag, thrilled at the daunting prospect of making the three films.

In fact, Anushka Sharma, who stars in BV alongside Ranbir Kapoor, has already started the dress and look rehearsals for her role in the film. Ranbir meanwhile will start work soon after he gets done with Anurag’s brother Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam. The first schedule of the film is supposed to be an outdoor one in Sri Lanka.

Bombay Velvet is Anurag’s most ambitious and expensive project till date, with massive effort being put into recreating Mumbai of the sixties. And since music is an integral part of the film, music director Amit Trivedi of Dev D fame has been roped in by Anurag to create the perfect sounds for the film. While Fox Star Studios is partnering with Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films to produce the flick.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra off to London!

After being embroiled in the IPL betting scandal, the Kundras have finally taken a break and will be spending a month in London

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have been going through tough times ever since the news of their involvement in the IPL 2013 betting scandal made headlines. However, the couple will no longer be under constant media scanner as they have flown to London with their families to spend some quality time away from all the hoopla.

Apparently, the duo had planned their trip last month itself but it got delayed since Raj had to surrender his passport. But after Kundra got back his passport, he and his wifey decided to avoid media’s prying eyes. We hear Shilpa and Raj will also be heading to Portugal for a week.

Looks like the couple wants to away stay from the city as long as possible!

Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha promote Lootera on SET Max’s Festival Of Love: View pics!

The lead pair of Vikramaditya Motwane’s period drama gets an ideal platform to promote the film on the small screen

After tasting success with his debut film Udaan, director Vikramaditya Motwane is excited about the release of his second venture Lootera starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The film is a period drama and going by the looks of it, the romance between Ranveer and Sona looks very old school and truly classic. The two make for an unconventional couple, but the charm and innocence they exude invokes the romantic in you. Even the songs are creating enough buzz with their soft lyrics.

Motwane is trying to promote his film through exciting avenues. In fact, the lead pair recently shot a very mushy promotional video for SET Max’s Festival Of Love series in which viewers will get to see some classic Hindi romantic movies. For this audio-visual, Sona turned up in an orange sari while Ranveer looked debonair in his suit. The moustache look made him look absolutely rugged yet charming. The two even enacted a scene from the movie in this promotional feature. View pictures.

PS: And hey! We were equally delighted to see both Sona and Ranveer endorsing a mobile phone application in a recent television commercial. If that is not enough the two will also be celebrating the quintessence of the most widely read iconic romance fiction series Mills & Boon soon. Even the movie’s poster will be featured on the cover of this romantic series. The duo is certainly playing it smart to make sure that their promotional drive grabs enough eyeballs.

The Roshans as a family have never been fitter. With Hrithik Roshan reaching the peak of fitness for Krrish:3, it looks like the superstar has inspired his entire family to follow in his footsteps.

So now it’s not only Hrithik who is a fitness freak. The actor has turned papa Rakesh Roshan, sister Sunaina Roshan and mum Pinky Roshan towards a fitness lifestyle too, and it seems they can’t do without their workouts. A little birdie told us that Hrithik has a Swedish expert Marika Johansson to thank for, for the transformation his family has achieved!

Don’t believe us? Then check out this latest photoshoot where Hrithik and his mom Pinky are seen having a great time as they work out in their own personal gym. Sweet, no?

Hrithik Roshan hires Krrish 3 trainer Marika Johansson for his family!

The Krrish superstar has converted his entire family into a bunch of fitness enthusiasts
All the hard work that Hrithik Roshan has put in at the gym for Krrish 3 has not only paid off in the form of an excellent physique, but it also became a habit for the superstar. After Hrithik developed a hardcore physique for the movie, he forced his entire family to turn into fitness freaks including his sister Sunaina Roshan, mother Pinky Roshan and even father Rakesh Roshan! And the person responsible for transforming all of them is the bodybuilding goddess from Sweden, Marika Johansson!

Marika, who was also responsible for Hrithik’s entire diet regiment while he was getting ripped for Krrish 3, is almost like a family member for the Roshans. And her work has paid off too as the change in Sunaina is more than apparent! “Mom and I are getting a lot more involved with our fitness now and we can already feel the results. Marika has been making us do various types of fun exercises and she has created a fitness chart for us to follow. In fact, the gym has now become a meeting point for the entire family,” says an ecstatic Sunaina who has never been in better shape.

Marika is a professional trainer and athlete who herself sports a wicked physique that could almost match up to Hrithik’s own! Check out the transformation that the super athlete has brought about in the Roshan household!

Vivek Oberoi is very excited to work with Hrithik Roshan in Krrish 3

Actor Vivek Oberoi, who will next be seen sharing screen space with superstar Hrithik Roshan in Krrish 3, minces no words in praising his co-star
Vivek Oberoi said Hrithik Roshan has ‘an aura of a legend’. “He is very humble. There is a legendary quality in his humility,” added the Company actor. “I feel I must have done something good in my life that I got such a role in my career. I think it’s one of the best roles of my career and I am very, very excited about it,” he said of Krrish 3.

The 36-year-old is confident that with Krrish 3, Hrithik ‘will surpass all his previous achievements’.

Vivek’s past few films, including Kismet Love Paisa Dilli and Zila Ghaziabad, didn’t elicit the desired response. No wonder the actor is overwhelmed with an opportunity to work in the sci-fi superhero extravaganza.

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Krrish 3 takes the story of Koi Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006) forward. Slated to release November 3, the film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut.

Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish now an animation series!

The much loved and appreciated movie franchise will be turned into a cartoon miniseries for kids

Krrish fans are in for a massive surprise and we’re sure they’re going to be pleased with this bit of news. Rakesh Roshan has struck a deal with Kerela based studio Toonz Animation to transform the celebrated movie franchise into a cartoon series.

There are at least three to four movies planned, the first of which will be titled Kid Krrish, and will focus on the adventures of an 11-year-old Krishna who gets up to a series of adventures along with his friend Jadoo when he discovers that he has magical powers. Apparently, Priyanka Chopra too will be a part of the project. This deal may work well as a marketing strategy as well as a revenue model since Papa Roshan apparently wants to introduce a legion of new fans to the superhero franchise. “Since Krrish 3 will be ready for release this Diwali, I wanted to revive the memory of Krrish among children who may have not seen Koi Mil Gaya or Krrish,” said Roshan.

We’d love to see what he makes, but we just hope that Hrithik Roshan’s spastic behaviour will be toned down, considering it almost worked in the movie because of the actor’s diligence. But in the animation, it may only turn out to be super irritating!

Krrish 3 logo out: Watch video

The logo of Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra’s superhero flick has just been released

While the first trailer of Rakesh Roshan’s ambitious superhero flick Krrish 3 starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi will come out with Chennai Express on August 8, the makers have just released the logo of the film.

While Koi Mil Gaya didn’t really have a logo, Krrish showed Hrithik’s face alongside the title. This time around it’s a slick Krrish 3 title, with ominous drum music in the background. Krrish 3 is slated to release on November 3, 2013, and Hrithik and daddy Rakesh have planned a long and elaborate promotional campaign leading up to the release. Meanwhile, watch the video and tell us if you like the logo.

The actor who’s currently serving his three-and-a-half-year prison sentence makes it a point to be in regular touch with wife Manyata

Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata Dutt are making sure that they keep each other updated about their lives. Since Sanjay started serving his three-and-half year sentence in Yerawada jail in Pune, we hear he is doing what it takes to be in touch with his family. So it seems the Policegiri actor writes a letter almost every other day to wifey Manyata so that he is abreast with the happenings in his household and also matters related to his production house.

Sanjay Dutt Productions has put in money in a couple of films and Manyata has taken the onus of spearheading it on her husband’s behalf. The actor has a slew of films up for release; we hope he gets solace in its success.

How important is Salman Khan in Katrina Kaif’s life?

Katrina maintains that her life wouldn’t have been the same had she not met Sallu and his family
Salman Khan can change your life for the better if he takes you under his gracious wings. Don’t believe us? Look at the likes of Himesh Reshammiya, Sajid–Wajid and many more Bollywood aspirants and you will be convinced of bhai’s big role in making stars out of ambitious souls. The biggest beneficiary of Sallu’s close friendship, of course, is none other than Katrina Kaif. The Dhoom:3 star doesn’t shy away from accepting the massive role Salman has played in her life, in getting her to the place where she has reached today. There’s no denying the fact that Kat wouldn’t have been the diva that she is had she not put in the hard work she has to make it big in Bollywood. But Sallu’s instrumental role in the babe’s life will always eclipse Kaif’s graceful personality and her tremendous determination to excel.

Katrina too gracefully accepts the fact and maintains that life wouldn’t have been the same without the Dabangg dude. “Salman had a huge role in my career. There’s no doubt about that. I value his opinion. As a person, Salman has had the biggest impact on my life. I became friends with him when I was young. And his persona is very strong. If I were to look back and see his impact on my life, it’s been tremendous. So why are we talking about something as small and segmented as a career. Life is far bigger than a career. Of course, what would my entire life journey have been had I not met that family, had I not met Akshay (Kumar)? I highly recommend that if Salman ever gives you an advice please think about it. Because he comes from a correct thinking process. I’m not saying he’s perfect but his thinking process is correct. Obviously, having someone who’s so knowledgeable about the film industry was extremely valuable,” said Katrina in a recent interview.

We agree with Kat. But now we want to know Vivek Oberoi’s take on how big a role Sallu has played (in virtually killing his once flourishing career) in his life. Will Vivek answer? Ideally, he shouldn’t!

Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha – who is the queen of Rs 100 crore club?

While mega-powerful Bollywood heroes boast of delivering box office hits worth Rs 100 crore and more, nobody can deny the role the stunning heroines play – they help rake in unbelievable moolah with their oomph and killer performances

Gone are the days when macho Bollywood male leads muscled their way into the Rs 100 crore club leaving their good looking heroines on the sidelines to cheer, silent spectators in the game of one-upmanship. Today, Bollywood babes like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif can proudly carry movies on their able shoulders and give heroes a run for their moolah. Take a look at some sexy sirens who mean business….big business!

Raanjhanaa box office: The Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor-Abhay Deol starrer earns Rs 20.88 crore in its opening weekend!

Though Aanand L Rai’s hatke love triangle ran low on promotions, it’s minting good money at the box office

Raanjhanaa was certainly not a film that movie buffs were anxiously looking forward to, considering it had no star power and lacked the promotional blitzkrieg. But director Aanand L Rai was quite confident that his unique love triangle will not only be liked by audiences and critics but it will work wonders too at the box office. And in the opening weekend, the movie has managed to earn Rs 20.88 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Raanjhanaa gathered momentum after an ordinary start on Friday morning. The business multiplied rapidly on Saturday and Sunday. While Delhi-UP circuit has performed the best, the film witnessed favourable growth in every circuit over the weekend.”

Leading exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi pointed out, “This seems to be the season of underdog victories! With Aashiqui 2, Fukrey and now Raanjhanaa notching up unprecedented numbers at the box office, the industry is coming to terms with the fact that great content can make up for star power when it comes to making the audience dish out dough at the ticket windows! Raanjhanaa may not feature a known star (for the Hindi market) but it’s clearly a film loaded with conviction and its lead cast has ensured great numbers over the weekend and excellent sustenance on Monday! Break up: Friday – Rs 5.12 crore, Saturday – Rs 6.74 crore and Sunday Rs 9.02 crore.”

Made at a budget of Rs 35 crores, the musical romcom featuring the unique chemistry between the unconventional jodi of Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor is being applauded by the masses. Surprisingly, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is going rock steady at the ticket counters. “It’s unstoppable. Collected approximately Rs 6.10 crore nett in its fourth weekend. Grand total: Rs 183.19 crore nett. Breakup for weekend:- Friday Rs 1.40 crore, Saturday 2.10 crore, Sunday Rs 2.60 crore. All Time Blockbuster,” tweeted Taran.

Qubool Hai: Will Asad be able to convince Zoya of his innocence?

It’s heartbreaking to see the man she loves cheat on her with a woman she hates, but will Zoya see beyond the obvious scheme of things?

Qubool Hai got really mucky last Friday when Asad (Karan Singh Grover) is tricked into sleeping with Tanveer. Obviously, the whole thing was staged by Tanu (Amrapali Gupta) – she first pretends that she’s getting raped and when Mr Khan reaches to save her, she gets him unconscious and strips him. She then slips into the makeshift bed with him and calls Zoya (Surbhi Jyoti) to gloat over it. Arrrgggh!

Zoya obviously doesn’t use her head and jumps to the wrong conclusion without giving Asad a chance to explain himself. And poor Mr Khan is wrongly judged by his own mother too. So does that mean Tanveer will get her wish fulfilled and Asad will be asked to marry her instead? Or will Ms Farooqui use her non-existent brain.

Come on, it’s obvious that he went to the warehouse for a reason and it has to be a big one too ‘coz he skipped his own wedding for it, right? If it was just to sleep with Tanveer, we are sure he could have done that at home as well. Doesn’t Asad’s mother Dilshaad know that her son loves Zoya and has no interest in Tanveer, so why was it so easy for her to assume the worst about her son?

Why wouldn’t Zoya, who knows Tanveer’s intentions, give Asad the benefit of the doubt and trust him? Isn’t it obvious at least to her that this is a well thought out ploy to disrupt the wedding? And making out with an unconscious man is a tad difficult, no?

Well, we hope Zoya sees through Tanu’s ploy and believes Asad’s innocence. Poor Mr Khan! What a price to pay for love, no?

Salman Khan’s plea rejected in 2002 hit-and-run case; the actor to be tried for culpable homicide

The Mumbai Sessions court today rejected Sallu’s plea for a retrial and has granted him a month’s time to appear before the court

The Mumbai Sessions court verdict on Salman Khan is finally out. The latest we hear is that the court has rejected the Dabangg superstar’s plea for retrial in the 2002 hit-and-run case and he’ll now be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The court has given Sallu a month’s time to appear before it. The Mental star’s Land Cruiser had killed a sleeping pavement dweller and injured four others on September 28, 2002. The actor had challenged the earlier verdict of the Bandra Magistrate Court that charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Section 304 part II of the Indian Penal Code).

What’s the reason behind Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput’s budding friendship?

Not long ago, Anushka and Sushant were at loggerheads after Ms Sharma commented on the length and breadth of his co-star’s role in P.K. But it seems their equation has now taken a complete U-turn
Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput are currently shooting in Belgium for Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K., and we hear both the actors are bonding big time on the sets. Now that’s surprising considering the duo had indulged in a war-of-words sometime back. Anushka had said in an interview that Sushant is just a small chapter in her life and has only eight days of work. Well, her unflattering comments did not go down well with the Kai Po Che! star and he shot back saying “there are no small roles, there are only small actors.”

While we have heard many stories about foe turning friends in Bollywood, we wonder what’s the reason behind this new found friendship between Anushka and Sushant? For starters, both the actors are shooting at a foreign location in a beautiful place like Belgium. One would love to have some good company, no? Besides, Anushka and Sushant are the only two actors from the cast of P.K. who are currently shooting in Bruges. Also, the duo isn’t accompanied by family or friends. Now that doesn’t leave the two with any other option but to spend time with each other! We wonder what Sushant’s fiancee Ankita Lokhande would say to that?

We would love to believe that Anushka and Sushant have decided to let bygones be bygones, but wethinks it’s the circumstances that forced them to bond. What do you think?

Veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s younger daughter Ahana Deol, an Odissi dancer and a fashion designer got engaged to Delhi-based businessman Vaibhav Vora in Mumbai on June 22. The engagement was a private family affair with the couple exchanging rings.

10 interesting facts about Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush starrer Raanjhanaa: View stills

Aanand L Rai’s directorial venture looks like a romantic delight, but here are some unknown tidbits that will help you decide if you wanna watch the film!

Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush’s Raanjhanaa releases on June 21 and here are a few interesting nuggets we discovered about the stars of the film. How a South superstar ended up bagging the role of a typical North Indian bloke, and how a fashion conscious babe was asked to take up a diametrically opposite character – we tell you all.

While the director, Aanand L Rai can’t stop raving about Dhanush’s performance, Sonam recollects that one moment when all her doubts about the Kolaveri di singer disappeared.

So here’s a bit of Raanjhanaa dope for your mind; hope it drives you to the nearest cinema halls…

It seems Dhanush was in Kolkata for the Kolaveri di promotions when director Aanand L Rai asked him to consider the film. But Dhanush refused the offer as direction was his first passion. But on Aanand’s insistence, the South star agreed to meet him. The director just asked for 20 minutes of his time and after hearing the script, Dhanush was bowled over. So the actor basically couldn’t say NO…

As you all know, Sonam Kapoor will be seen stepping into the cute li’l school shoes of a 15-year-old. So for this one sequence, Sonam had to wear a uniform and shoot in front of a huge crowd in her teeny-weeny plaid outfit. Initially she was slightly hesitant but the moment she gave her first shot, the crowd hooted and clapped for them. That’s when SK’s confidence rose a notch.

For the portrayal of the 15-year-old, Sonam says she was inspired by Jaya Bachchan’s character in Guddi. And as she grows up in the film and comes back to Varanasi to stay with her family after completing her education at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) – for her adult phase, SK says she unabashedly tried to copy Waheeda Rehman’s performance in Guide.

We hear aloo puri, masala chai and Benaras ki rabdi became Dhanush’s staple breakfast while shooting for the film. He simply couldn’t resist the scrumptious Benarasi delicacies. Well, what can we say, it’s still not showing dude…

The Kapoor chick had heard about Dhanush’s achievements down South but she really had her doubts if the actor could play a typical North Indian lover who could do justice to the local lingo. But the moment SK saw a picture of Dhanush posing with sadhus with a gamcha tied to his head, she was convinced that no one apart from him could play Kundan.

We have heard tons about Dhanush’s diligence and here’s one more anecdote to exemplify that. Though it was a tough task, the actor insisted on dubbing for the film himself, with the guidance of the writer and the director.

Not many know about Dhanush’s Bollywood plans. The actor spills the beans by saying that that if Raanjhanaa works, he will do more Hindi films. And for now he has hit it off so well with Aanand that he’s agreed to do one more film with him in 2014

It seems father-in-law Rajinikanth can’t wait to hear his damaad speak in Hindi.

Now what’s a revelation is that Sonam Kapoor is a religious person. And we got to know this from the horse’s mouth herself. Sonam confessed that she was so smitten by the temples of Varanasi that she made the most of it by visiting the majestic marvels.

Sonam plays a student from JNU in the film. She had to get the tone of the character perfectly right since JNU students are known to be politically aware and speak flawless Hindi. They dress sensibly and brainstorm on current affairs – they are intelligent and opinionated. So Sonam, as a part of her research, spent time with the college students to get her body language and diction spot on.

Sonam Kapoor dazzles in cropped pants, or traditional outfit?

We have been feasting our eyes on the Kapoor gal’s style delights, and especially for the promotional activities of her new film Raanjhanaa, SK has been fascinating us with some cool fashion surprises

Sonam Kapoor was spotted in her ethnic best in a pretty traditional ensemble promoting her new film Raanjhanaa. Swanning around in a creation by Poonam Bhagat, the Kapoor chick made sure she added the traditional tadka by wearing a tiny bindi along with it. A stylish braid completed her look. In another event, the babe was in a diametrically different avatar. In maroon cropped pants and a black blazer, she gave the finishing touches to her style with gorgeous drop earrings.

But if we had to make a choice, wethinks Sonam’s Indian avatar is a notch above. While the cropped pants are a li’l too unusual for our tastes, the designer high-collared Poonam Bhagat creation looks as if it was tailor made for the pretty Kapoor babe. Which look do you like the best?
