Ahead of its EPL debut, GLT makes football fans worry after DRS inaccuracy

After technology in tennis and cricket, football's English Premier League is set to 'make decisions more accurate' when it comes to goals. The English Premier League or EPL is set to commence on Saturday and the teams, managers and fans are all raring to go.

Football's finest league has clouds hanging over Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale's future as the football stars want to leave their current teams for greener pastures but money issues are making it tough.

As champions, Manchester United get set to defend their title, a debut will be made some time in the season, and no there's no new player but it's GLT or Goal Line Technology.

The 2013-14 Premier League season will witness football history being made as technology will be used to settle a contentious goal-line decision for the first time.

The system was used at last year's FIFA Club World Cup in Japan and this year's Confederations Cup in Brazil, but in both tournaments, there were no controversial incidents.

On Saturday, EPL will became the first national championship to sanction the use of the technology.

Hawk-eye is used in tennis to determine if the ball is in or out and has been successful on many a times with tennis stars liking the accuracy of the technological innovation.

In cricket, the Decision Review System or DRS has found some loves and haters. India's cricket board, BCCI has been the biggest critic of the technology opposing it since the last few years.

Severe lapses during the current Ashes Tests between Australia and England has cast clouds over this technology. Fans are sceptical of GLT and are not sure if it will mirror 'hassle-free hawk-eye' or 'drama-filled DRS'.
