Deepika Padukone: I would’ve loved to play Mary Kom, but Priyanka Chopra is right for the film

The Chennai Express actor who has been seen in big projects wished she had bagged the role of the Olympic medal winning boxer on film

Deepika Padukone, a hot favourite amongst the audience after her recent performance in Chennai Express, has revealed that she would have loved to be a part of the film on Indian boxer Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom’s life.

At the moment, her BFF Priyanka Chopra is portraying the role of the Olympic bronze medalist. The Chennai Express actor was heard saying, “I would have loved to do a biopic on Mary Kom, but now Priyanka is doing it. I feel she is right for the film. I am glad a film on Mary Kom is being made. People have started recognising her. At least her achievements will not go waste.”

“When two years ago I used to talk about Mary Kom, everyone was clueless. Today when a film is being made on her, everyone seems to have some interest in her,” she added.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is producing the movie, directed by Omung Kumar, based on the boxer who became a national figure after winning the London Olympics bronze medal in 2012.

For now, we are just left with imagining Deepika playing Mary Kom! Would you have liked to see her play the pugilist?

Is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan doing an item song in Ram Leela?

Buzz is that the gal who rocked the dance floor with Kajra re in Bunty Aur Babli is going to do a special number in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film
We all know that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s fans are waiting eagerly for her to return to the silver screen, but she is taking her own time for her comeback – and how she hates that word! However, if reports are to be believed, the Bachchan bahu – who shares a good rapport with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali – has been approached to do an item number in his next film – Ram Leela. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and is scheduled to release later this year.

Aishwarya has worked with Bhansali in films like Guzaarish, Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and if our buddy the birdie is to be believed, Sanjay is very keen to have her on board for this special number. Before Aishwarya, actors like Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit-Nene were also approached to do the item song, but now Beti B Aaradhya’s mum has been zeroed in on to do it. Ash is seriously considering this one, we hear, but has not given SLB the green signal yet. So it’s just a story of wait and watch for all of us…for now.

If you remember, Madhuri relaunched her B-town career with the Ghagra song from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, long before her comeback film Gulaab Gang released. But whether the Bachchan bahu will follow in Madhuri’s dancing footsteps so soon is still a mystery.
